The 18th year of the Cole Summer Writers Institute will kick off on July 17, 2023! The institute will run 9-11:30am from Monday, July 17 to Friday, July 21, and will feature a one-day workshop by local author James Preller! The Institute tuition is $70, which includes:
- Commemorative poster with original Kat Hrazdina artwork!
- Commemorative Cole 2023 Tee shirt!
- One day workshop with award-winning writer James Preller!
- Pizza party and publishing workshop on Friday!
Applications can be obtained by clicking the image to the right, in English classes in the middle and high school, or in the middle and high school offices. All applications and payments are due by June 23, 2023.
James Preller is the author of more than 80 books for children of all ages, ranging from picture books through young adult novels. His titles include the picture books All Welcome Here, A Pirate’s Guide to First Grade, and A Pirate’s Guide to Recess (all Feiwel and Friends); the choose-your-own-adventure story Fairy House (Chooseco); the middle-grade novels The Courage Test, Bystander, and the forthcoming Upstander (all Feiwel and Friends), Six Innings, and the forthcoming Blood Mountain (both Macmillan/Square Fish); and the young adult novels The Fall (Macmillan/Square Fish) and Before You Go (Feiwel and Friends). He’s also the author of three early chapter book series: the Jigsaw Jones mysteries (Scholastic), Scary Tales (Macmillan), and the Big Idea Gang (HMH Books for Young Readers).
